I agree with your comment (and Theo's) about the color of 40 lepta "groseille" 1862-67 and 1871-76. It is not the same. But it is relatively close...
In general, isn't this true for many LHH? For example:
How similar is the color of the First Athens 20 lepta ultramarine with the ultramarine 20 lepta of 1875-80?
How similar is the yellow green 5 lepta of 1862-67 with the yellow green 5 lepta of 1871-76?
Etc. etc. These stamps have VERY different shades (night and day difference...), yet we classify them under the same color label...
